I like blends of Shiraz and Cabernet, and having enjoyed the 2006 Wynns Cabernet Sauvignon, I decided to have a punt on this one. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Shiraz, maturated for 16 months in a mix of seasoned and new French and American oak barrels. Four hours in the decanter. A very dark red/purple in colour. A nose showing dark berries and briary fruits, blackberries, with a touch of leaf, nutmeg and vanilla. The palate is stout, with deep seated black fruits, red currants, mocha and plump red cherries. Fairly tannic at the moment, but they are fine and ripe. Lots of promise. I should have kept some wine for a tasting on the second day, but I could not resist it. A six bottle buy for me.

Hard work I thought this was Big Bum.

Yeh mebbe. I didn’t mind it though. Drank it over 6 hours or so. 07 Black Label was hard work – reckon I should get another bottle but don’t want to spend the money. Though I did notice the price is down at Dans: $25 for the 06 and $20 for the 07.
I didn’t drink it over 2 or 3 days!
GW
I must have had a cooked bottle from VC…. will try to try it again…..
No. I’m saying I didn’t drink the Anne of Green Gables over 2-3 days. There’s plenty of fish in the sea other than 07 BL…like 06 or 08.
GW
Yes. I need to get the quoting thingy plugin. Anne needs some time. Actually, lots of it. 07 BL is the problem child – perhaps it will come good.
I think I liked this better than most, needs loads of time but as with anything good from Coonawarra will definitely reward.
