Witches Falls Verdelho 2008

Witches Falls Verdelho 2008

I don’t drink much Verdelho; about one bottle each year. The last bottle was corked, and that in itself was a blessing. Just joking of course, but it is hardly a varietal that consistently produces a good table wine. This one was a pale straw in colour, with a hint of green. And even straight from the fridge, fruity aromas were jumping from the glass; a real fruit salad nose, featuring lychees, pineapple, passionfruit, mandarins and oranges. The palate was fruit-driven too, melon and lemon, with fruit salad notes and some musk. Crisp and refreshing, with quite a bit of drive on the palate, and a crisp lemony finish. Very good length – worth a try at the price if you see it around.
