William Downie Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2007

William Downie Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2007

My third bottle from a case; I cannot keep my hands (and my corkscrew) off them. A bright red in colour, with a nose showing aromas of cherries and minerals, chalk and musk, followed by a bit of sap and a touch of stalk. This said, it is perhaps a bit closed, though the beauty of the pure fruits is impressive. The palate follows the nose, red cherries and minerals, cranberries, clean earth, slightly sappy, medium bodied with restrained elegance. Quite an enjoyable wine.
