West Cape Howe Shiraz 2007

West Cape Howe Shiraz 2007

The 2007 vintage was hot and dry in the Great Southern region. The wine was made by Gavin Berry, who I believe formerly worked at Plantagenet. A rich red with splashings of purple. Red plums and spice, raspberries, a touch of vanilla and a freshness and liveliness that reminds me of apricot. On the palate, a lovely depth of fruit, with plums, vanilla, spice and blackberries, while at the same time maintaining a lightness – very easy drinking. Fine tannins and a good finish. A case buy for me.
