Villa Maria Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2002

Villa Maria Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2002

Blackcurrants, dry stalks and a mulchy vegetative character. A full palate, ripe and juicy, dominated by blackcurrants and blackberries, with some tartness in the midpalate, and then tobacco, stalks and a burnt character on the finish. It is almost overpowering in its richness, with a wealth of blackcurrants and an odd stalkiness making it seem a bit disjoint. One-dimensional, sweet and quite boozy. This came highly recommended, but I don’t think it is a good style at all.
