Vietti Barolo Castiglione 2005

Vietti Barolo Castiglione 2005

Hands up who likes Barolo! Well I do, particularly when it is as good as this. Now I believe Barolo is neither a party wine, nor wine to be taken to an offline. It is a wine to savoured, to be contemplated, to be considered and to be consumed over an extended period of time. One other person max. I gave this 2 hours in a decanter and then drank it over the next 7 hours. Light tar, dried cherries, iron, pink florals and something elusive. I ended up not trying to identify it, and just enjoyed the wine. Cherry fruits, blackberries, dark spices, tar, superb tannins, some dry extract, effortless, a wine to muse over and revel in. Leave a couple of years before trying again.

    very good wine indeed.
I decanted this at 9 am twice and put it back into the bottle.
I took to an offline (he he he ) and opened it at 2pm where is sang and would have only got better and better if we could stop drinking it.
Problem is to find some for the cellar .
