Valli Gibbston Vineyard Pinot Noir 2010

Valli Gibbston Vineyard Pinot Noir 2010

I don’t drink much Pinot Noir from Otago, but I should. This was purchased from The Wine Emporium on the recommendation of Brent. Cheers Brent!

A full-on nose; spices and rich fruits, stalks, plums and dark berries, dried herbs and some minerals. The spices are quite sweet actually but this does not translate to sweetness or overripeness on the palate, which is nice. Some drying elements, brown dry twigs, sour cherries and plums. A touch of green tangyness on the finish. Easy drinking now. Screwcap. 13.5% abv. Highly Recommended.

Had one of these last night – lovely. Didn’t get the same level of spice, but lots of forest floor, mushroomy character to go with a bowl full of dark berries. At the elegant end of Central Otago, and all the better for it,

And spices are a lot more prominent 24 hours later – much better wine for being open for a day.
