Teusner “Joshua” 2011

Teusner "Joshua" 2011

Spoiler alert: no good news here.

14.5% abv. Screwcap. $27.99. A blend of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz. An awful nose: abrasive cloves and peppery spice, and not much less. Palate is clove laden too, with some raspberry fruits. Was going to be an 80th birthday wine, but it’s been scratched from that list now. Honestly, I cannot get over the nose on this wine. Errk. Might be better tomorrow…..[the next day]…. the nose has softened, as has the palate, but it is still a bit of a hollow shell. Low 80s. Not recommended.

Wow, thats a large poop on the poster child of new age Barossa. 2011 vintage not so good then.

Maybe a marker of the generalisation that 2011 is as dodgy as many are saying?
