Comments on: Stonier Pinot Noir 2007

I thought this was a pretty neat wine too, although perhaps not one for those with a fear of acid or lighter expressions of Pinot. It seems made in a very deliberate style, which is awesome in itself. I think your note captures the wine perfectly.

yeah, I can imagine in December last year it might have looked a bit hard. Even now, it needed air time to show it’s best. I also saw JH’s rating and was quite surprised coz that’s a very big score.

when I had this December 08, I found it had a sharp spike of acidity and bitter tannin which sort of dominated the palate.. although I probably didnt give it enough air, opened and drank at the restaurant.

Time to give another one a try it seems.. Halliday seems to think highly of this wine (96pts!) but I think Linc’s score is about right

Just found my comments on this one:

Stonier Mornington Pinot Noir 2007 – Fine balance between strength and floral delicacy. The palate at first showed a bit of bitterness which faded with air. It just got smoother and smoother, blossoming with that mesmerising something you can’t quite put your finger on. Will look even better in a couple of years. How do they do it for the price? Loved it.

I can’t remember what I liked about it so much back then and I’ve never liked Stonier PN before so I bought more to give it a thorough check out. Will report back.
