St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2006

St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2006

This wine already has a few big accolades. And in this regard it makes it even harder to review in an even-handed manner. Not that this is your problem; moreso one for my analyst.

A deep blood red with some purple bruising. And oh, and it smells very nice; plums and spice, brambly fruits, with some cream and nutty oak. The palate is juicy, plums, red cherries and black cherries, with a swirl of mocha, red liquorice and new leather. The finish is long, at least 12 rows back, with some raspberry acidity and a touch of tar. Quite lovely mouthfeel, a little slippery, and the oak that there is is all good. This one gets a snappy thumbs up, especially at the price.
