Spring Vale Pinot Noir 2005

Spring Vale Pinot Noir 2005

I first visited Spring Vale in 1995, and loved the ’94 so much I think I bought 2 cases. And then they fell off my wine radar. That sort of thing can happen to radars occasionally.

A medium red in colour and initially a bit reserved. And then, some gorgeous dark cherries and earth, a bit of game – a very sexy nose. The palate showed terrific fruits and ripe tannins, savoury finesse, balance, nicely bodied, with bright acid and a bit of mineral on the finish. Lots of potential here. Drinking well now, but perhaps could do with another 6 months in the bottle.
