Spinifex “Tabor Vineyard” 2004

Spinifex Tabor Vineyard 2004

33 cases made, and I bought 1.5% of the production. 33 is an odd number, in two ways. They must have some 300L barrels (or similar) at Spinifex. 100% Mourvedre. I love Mourvedre, particularly the way that the lads at Spinifex make it. Deeply earthy, lifted, with raspberry redness, cherries and red plummy fruits, a touch of nougat oak, which is receding with time into the background. Rich red fruits on the palate, and some super tannins that offer some suppleness and at the same time box the wine in firmly with some structure. Drink over the next 5 years.

Firstly I wish to say thank you for posting again. I really enjoy your writing style 🙂

Secondly I just want to say I like the varietal as well and it is nice to taste it vicariously.

A 300L barrel is called a hogshead and it is the primary vessel of choice in the Barossa…

I am a Spinifex-iste. I am going to go on the net and buy some now. Umm, which ones should I buy?
