Another single bottle taster from many months ago. Might even be more than a year. A rich red in colour, with traces of purple. The nose showed a mass of different aromas, plums, mulberries and blueberries, vanilla and a nuttiness, and lurking in the shadows black fruits and earthy spices. The palate showed bright clean fruit, mulberries and plums, with hints of currants and raspberries, nutty and savoury with a drying finish. Medium bodied, with beautiful tannins – the complete package. A very classy Shiraz. I just wish I had bought more. Sigh. Can be consumed now, but should improve with time.

Thanks Lincoln. Good to know. For some reason I bought 3 of these and I’m glad I did now. Cheers!
Hi Lincoln. When you say 2014+ what do you mean by that? Does that mean you think it will go on improving after 2014? I have a bottle of this that I had pencilled in for a special occasion in 2020 – do you think I should reassess this plan?
Cheers
Matt
Hi Matt. What I mean by “+” is that it will most likely go longer than the specified year. Personally, I wouldn’t risk leaving a wine another 11 years without trying some intermediate bottles, or if the wine had a very good cellaring record. I suppose the St Peters does actually fall into this category, though the change in winemaking style from Ian McKenzie to Arthur O’Connor/Emma Wood was quite marked. Better safe than sorry I think.
“I just wish I had bought more”.
Uncle Dan’s has this for $54 I think – cheaper than your RRP of $60 when you wrote this. Great success!
