Sangreal by Farr Pinot Noir 2010

Sangreal by Farr Pinot Noir 2010

I have a bit of a hate-hate relationship with the wines from By Farr, the Farr Side, Upper Farr, Lower Farr, Farr Too Many Names….. They have never done much for me, though I have enjoyed more than a few bottles of the old Bannockburn wines when they were made by Gary Farr. This one is 13.0% abv, sealed under cork and around $70. A confronting nose: stalk, green mulch, dry pepper, barbeque and tomato sauce. Oh here we go again. Cherries, char and green vegetables on the palate, tomatoes and celery, some hardness to the stalk. Palate is a bit short and the finish a touch bitter. Now the tannins are pleasant enough, and the fruit weight is measured, but it is a style that I do struggle with. Mid 80s.
