I love the ’91 version of this wine. It is still drinking well now, and since first trying this wine I have been pursuing a year that would be its equal, visiting the ’93, ’96, ’98 and ’99 vintages. This is probably the closest one, but still doesn’t make it, and probably doesn’t really justify its price tag. A mature nose, with coffee grounds, red capsicum, red currants and a bit of mocha. The palate showed red currants and red capsicum, with some leafy nuances, nicely balanced and firm acid. Pleasant enough, but I couldn’t get too excited; drink now-ish.
