Odds & Ends XI

Been busy, so time for another O&E:

  • Marques de Riscal Reserva 2001: very good. Cleaner than the 2004, well some of them
  • Moet et Chandon Dom Perignon 1996: rock solid – awesome wine
  • Gros-Tollot La 50/50 2008: a bit flat to be honest
  • Meerea Park Terracotta Semillon 2004: super stuff. My wine of choice when there isn’t any Chardonnay available
  • Traversa Barbera d’Alba 2008: very tasty
  • Wynns The Gables Cabernet Shiraz 2008: still to young; masses of ripe fruits and spicy oak
  • Domaine de la Janasse Cotes du Rhone Les Garrigues 2004: bleech. Too ripe, raisined.
  • Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Clos de la Bousse d’Or 1993: corked
  • Bouchard Pere et Fils Beaune “Greves – Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus” 1er cru 2002: very good, almost excellent
  • Wynns Cabernet Sauvignon 1999: started okay, with currant/tobacco characters beating the taint out of the blocks, but the latter won the race. Down the sink
  • Mountain X Hunter Shiraz 2006: hmmmm, seemed flat too. Might be me though

I’ll open one and let you know. Not thrilled with diam in this wine. If it’s no good will send you some 07 and 08.

Mountain X looked a lot better on the second night.
But send me some 07 and 08 if you want 🙂
