Mountain X Hunter Shiraz 2006

Mountain X Hunter Shiraz 2006

A blend of 94% Hunter Shiraz and 6% Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. A captivating nose: dry undergrowth, dried spices, red cherries and red plums, sweet leather, dried sticks and earth with a bit of smoke and stalk. The palate is beautifully textured, stalk and red fruits, spice, bright acid, balancing sweet fruits and savoury earth very nicely. There is also a fleshy tomato-like freshness to the palate; quite an interesting wine. With time, the palate bulked out a bit, but it remained quite acidic. Needs a couple of years to settle.
