An experimental wine from Meerea Park, and since ‘RWT’ was taken, they decided to call it ‘XYZ’. This wine had 50% whole bunch (stalks included) fermentation and then was treated to 100% new French Hogsheads, not that you can really tell. On the nose, red fruits and quite a bit of stalkiness, green fruits and some pepper and spice; clean and inviting aromas. The palate is exotic, with cherries and a smoky stalkiness, lovely mouthfeel and almost some white grape characters. Lovely freshness and balance, fine tannins and top notch finish.
