Majella Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

Majella Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

I am slowly moving back towards appreciating Cabernet, especially those from the Coonawarra. On the whole fairly priced and offering great drinking. This one is on the oakier side, but has the fruit to get away with it. Red currants and plums, cream and nougat. The palate is quite intense, red currants, liquorice, black jubes, lively, creamy and nutty, and slowly evolved into blackcurrants fruits on a ribenaesque canvas. Nice tannins, slightly chewy, which is a good thing in a cabernet. Should hold for 4 or 5 more years, but seems pretty ready to go in my books.
