Le Vieux Donjon Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2000

Oo er, my first new review here, and it’s one from the cellar. I have a few Rhones approaching 10 years of age and it is time they were consumed. A very old world label on a very old world bottle, and not surpisingly, quite an old world style too. Some browning at the rim, with a nose of black cherries, dried herbs and a bit of stalk. The palate is soft and resolved, cherries and herbs, old raspberries, an underlying minerality, a touch of liquorice and some tobacco dryness on the finish. Nicely weighted, but drink up.
