Lake’s Folly Cabernets 2007

Lake's Folly Cabernets 2007

Fresh off the truck, and I’ve had 2 bottles already. I know nothing about the 2007 vintage in the Hunter, but this doesn’t worry me. A blend 71% Cabernet, 15% Merlot and 14% Petit Verdot. Hmmm, no Shiraz… I think they have grubbed this up to plant more Chardonnay. Red cherry fruits, red liquorice, earth and leather, a pretty floral character. On the palate, medium bodied, red fruits, cherries and raspberries, blackberries, overlaid with fresh leather and savoury earth; not heavy or syrupy but still displays some power. The length gets better with time. Will profit from a decant, and should do a dozen years as usual. Looks cleaner than previous vintages but it is early days yet I suppose.
