Hillcrest Estate Pinot Noir 2008

Hillcrest Estate Pinot Noir 2008

Pinot night. I didn’t want to be let down, and I wanted no surprises, so I opened a well regarded Aussie one. Now I have not liked many of Philip Jones’ wines, so I was a little bit worried about this selection. Stalk, glossy red cherries, a bit of celery. Very nice texture on the palate; red fruits and stalk, everything in its right place. Sap and a touch of green bean on the finish. The bottle disappeared very quickly, which is a good sign. 91-92 points. Around $40. Drink 2012-2017+. Sealed sensibly under cork.
