Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas 1999

Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas 1999

Red in colour, but with a brownish tinge. A mature nose, leather, pepper, dark cherries, plums, dried herbs and dried spices, with just a touch of alcohol lift. On the palate, red fruits, dried herbs and an earthy savouriness, with a touch of cherry liqueur. Has a soft spirity edge – but nothing aggressive. Some harsh tannins on the finish, though harsh is too strong a word. Where’s my Roget’s when I need it? A pleasant wine, drinking well now but should go a few more years.

I had my last one of these last night, and couldn’t get through the first glass. It was all of the good things Linc describes, but this bottle was dried out. Not pleasant drinking any more.

hay i’ve got a bottle of this but the label is different from on this page added prestige des hautes garrigues. but @wizz sure wines decline but i doubt it was undrinkable, indeede this makes you sound like n unsupportable wine snob who has no concept of terroir. i mean how can someting be all the good described but not?

  3. Lincoln says:

prestige des hautes garrigues is their premium cuvee. I have a few bottles of this tucked away – perhaps I will get one out this week to try….

    loz, read my note again.

My bottle had a key difference to Lincolns bottle – it had dried out.

I did not enjoy it and didn’t drink it. Is there something wrong with that?
