Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru 2005

Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru 2005

My first taste of a 2005 red Burgundy I think. This one is a blend of Les Feusselottes and Les Chatelots. Quite an engaging perfume, pretty florals and red fruits, with spice and some nettley oak, which all sounds nice but unfortunately these aromas were somewhat overshadowed by gunsmoke. With time (about 6 hours) this cleared to leave a wine that was plush without being overripe, fine and supple, pure red cherries, old cinnamon bark, a dash of caramel and a vague woodiness. The acid is good too, and I reckon this will be looking very good in a few years.
