I have heard on the grapevine that this wine in a decline, so I thought it was time to try one of my magnums. Lots of pencilly oak, with black olives, black fruits, tapenade, milk chocolate, red cherries, a touch of tobacco, but not a lot though. The palate is dry and on the short side, with some tangy fruits, dark cherry fruits and some pleasant tannins. It is not exactly fruity, and that which remains will not improve from here. Oaky and okay. Has some charm, but not entirely likeable. Drink up.

Ype, I have my last bottle in fridge but I think it may be more suited to a stew. Your magnum sounds a little softer than my more bitter 750ml. The 2001 is going to get the cork pulled pretty soon I reckon. By my last notes it should be much better.
Just looked up the DL website and found they really liked it in 2001 with “gentle support from dusty cedary oak”. Curious then how downhill the fruit has gone considering the good vintage.
