Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin “En Champs” Vieille Vignes 2003

Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs Vieille Vignes 2003

A deep red in colour. An opulent nose. Black cherries, plums, dry spices and dried mushrooms. A flavoursome and fulsome palate. Not a lot of refinement, but decent length. Raisins and acid on the finish. Eight years old and still very rich. I had a 2003 Combe-du-Dessus by the same producer two years ago and it had a similar profile. New Worldy; a Burgundy in a clown suit. Still too young but I doubt time will improve it. 83 points.
