Charles Melton Shiraz 2006

Charles Melton Shiraz 2006

A new release from Charles Melton, and not a wine I have bought for close to 10 years. But based on this tasting I think I might tuck a few in the cellar. Dark red in colour. Dark plums, warm spices, black cherries, mixed spices, red leather, red cherries, and some malty oak. The palate is initially quite dry, but opened up to show some richness with red cherries, plums, wild briary fruits, red liquorice, vanilla and creamy oak infused with spices. There is also some dry extract, and a lovely balance between red and black fruits. Well structured, and needs a couple of years in the bottle. Excellent juice.
