Castagna Genesis Syrah 2004

The last bottle of this wine too. And according to my records there is also a bottle of 2001 somewhere. Initially this showed black plums and graphite, but as we eased our way into the evening it turned more red fruited: stewed plums with spice, stalk and some glycerol. Lovely texture, great weight of fruit and the touch of stalkiness adding another dimension. Raspberries and glacé cherries on the finish. Now this wine belongs on a catwalk – very sexy stuff indeed. Oh, and by the way, when I was searching for an accompanying image, it was noted that Bert at WineStar has this wine in stock for $80, and I can think of a whole lot of worse ways of spending eighty bucks.

Lincoln thanks for posting your notes again, always good reading.

I have only one bottle of this. If I opened it in the next couple of years what would you suggest for a decanting time ?

    Cheers Mark

I bought a stack of these from Auction for about 35 each. I think thats the place to buy them. I love castagna, classy aussie shiraz.
