Burge Family Winemakers G3 2002

A museum release. I am too old to remember this vintage. Was it good? Probably not; regardless, this wine is most excellent. 52% Grenache, 42% Shiraz and 6% Mourvedre. Now I know I bang on about alcohol too much, so please forgive me, but the first thing I noticed was the 15.5% abv. A lifted nose: sweet spices, raspberries and stones. On the palate, mixed red fruits, some sweetness and slipperiness, not much heat; perhaps a touch at the end of the palate. Soft chocolatey tannins. Looks to have aged very well indeed. Should go many more years. 2012+. 91 points. Not sure of an RRP as it was part of a mixed dozen from the cellar door.
