Benevelli Barbera d’Alba “Bricco Ravera” 2007

Benevelli Barbera d'Alba "Bricco Ravera" 2007

I bought this over 18 months ago for around $40; I am slow off the mark. An exceptional nose, bright, lovely florals, black and red cherries, dried meat and mushrooms, wood and lots of acid; quite up-front and punchy. A strong cherry palate, with secondary depth (dried meats, mushroom et al.), and that acid spine. Perhaps maybe it fades a bit on the palate, and it should be noted that some varnishy characters that I didn’t like disappeared with time. Excellent value. 92-93 points.
