2011 Felton Road Elms Chardonnay

Felton Road ElmsFelton Road now make three Chardonnays – Block 2 at the top of the tree, Bannockburn as a standard, and this wine – the Elms – as an entry level wine.

Dont be fooled – there are style difference between the three, with this one being the freshest most fruit driven, but do not mistake that for lower quality. This is a smart wine for $26.  Very little wood here, just pure honeydew fruit that has been picked at perfect ripeness.  There are wheaty, nougat elements here too.  Value this for its clean purity rather than nuance and complexity.   Tasty, and very versatile too.  90/100.
